What is a panelized home?
A panelized home should not be confused with modular or mobile homes. Panelization is considered to be one step above stick-framing. When a contractor does a stick-frame construction project, a number of lifts of wood are delivered to the job site. A crew will then take the studs and cut and assemble them into 'panels' that are tilted up into place and fastened down.
|
For panelized homes, we pre-build all the exterior/interior 'panels' in a controlled environment (plant) and then ship them to the construction site for you ready to be assembled. We will also send you the floor and roof system, doors and windows as part of our panelized home package. Our homes are classified as a 'stick-framed home' and thusly are not restricted by zoning or codes as to where we may send our packages.
- Modular Homes are factory completed box sections which are lifted into place by a crane and require minimal assembly. Plumbing, electrical, drywall, etc. are all done in the plant.
- Mobile/Manufactured homes are large trailers fitted with parts for connection to utilities.
- Panelized homes (or prefab homes) are pre constructed walls, floor, and roof sections which are shipped to be assembled at the building site. Can also include windows and doors.
What are the benefits of building a panelized home?
Building a panelized home can reward you with true costs savings. Framing labor, waste, theft, cycle time, equipment, lumber cost, and the amount of lumber used are a few examples. Panelized built homes increase your projects' efficiencies and profitability. Panelized homes are built on a squaring tables in a controlled environment with state of the art technology.
- An excellent way to control your costs and stay within budget
- There is very little waste materials produced.
- The construction sites are cleaner.
- Construction time is faster.
- Assembly is easier because all panels are marked.
- Quality is high due to quality control procedures in the factory.
- Wall panels are always square and true. ·1 The requirements for skilled people are less.
- Material shortage delays are less likely, since the entire system is supplied in one package.
- Callbacks are reduced. Components made with dry lumber are less likely to shrink, warp or twist.
- Components are rarely stolen from the job site.
- Proper nailing patterns are consistently used.

If you are planning to build in the United States you will save on materials just because of the dollar exchange rate between the Canadian and US dollar. Also, Canadian materials meet or exceed the code requirements for most of the United States.
Most importantly, panelized homes help you control your costs. The materials are guarantee and the price you are given remains fixed. There is no “under-bidding” or cost over-runs when a panelized home package is ordered.
